Osho Online Library - Osho's books online - for free!

Finally, Osho's books are available online for friends and lovers to read, on the Osho.com website. There are currently about 3,000 talks (chapters) in English, we can hope that Hindi will soon follow. There still seem to be some bugs to work out though as the library crashed with .NET errors many times.

Update on trademarks of Osho in USA

Following the order by the United States Court of Appeals of the Federal Circuit, Washington, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) cancelled the trademarks of Osho on July 31, 2009.
The USPTO website http://www.ttabvue.uspto.gov is now showing the cancellation.
Osho Friends opposed various applications for registration of trademarks related to Osho and also filed for cancellation of trademarks already registered.

The channel provides excerpts from talks by Osho on different subjects, from meditation techniques, to politics, to personal questions as well as information about the OSHO International Meditation Resort.

Osho International Foundation Zurich (the legal holder of trademarks and copyrights related to Osho) have lost the trademark of the word "Osho" as related to meditations and related usages. The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board found that "the term Osho is generic for the meditations devised by the mystic Osho and the meditation and religious movement arising therefrom. As a result defendant [OIF] cannot foreclose others from utilizing the term OSHO to describe their own goods and services based upon such meditations and movements."
Note:This ruling applies to the trademark "Osho" and is nothing to do with copyrights!

One97 Communications, a fast rising Indian telecoms company, announced "an exclusive partnership with OSHO International which entails the exclusive distribution of their content in India". The distribution seems to be limited to mobile phones (which are ubiquitous in India) but with a potential of reaching millions. Reported widely, at NewsTrackIndia, EFYTimes or Money Control. Osho International is keeping quiet about it for now...

Shemaroo Entertainment, a top Indian home entertainment company, has just signed a deal with Osho International Foundation to produce and distribute Osho DVDs and VCDs. They've started with a multi-year contract for 25 videos, such as 'How to Relax with yourself' and 'Art of Loving'.

In a statement to the press this morning, Osho Foundation International, who had formerly claimed copyright on Osho's discourses, photographs, meditations and ideas, announced that all of Osho's talks and 'creative works' would be freely available under a Creative Commons License.

"Slowly, slowly in all the countries where spirituality has flowered, people became aware that something happens... So people have preserved things that were used by these people, or just have made memorials of their bodies. In India bodies are burned, but you will be surprised to know that the remains left after burning a body are called "flowers". Ordinary people's ashes are thrown into holy rivers, but enlightened people's "flowers" are preserved in Samadhis—in beautiful marble memorials. Just to go and sit there is in itself a meditation. But the trouble is that the world is ruled by those who know nothing of this."

Sir Ben Kingsley, who played Gandhi in the acclaimed 1982 movie of that name, has been named to play Osho in a new movie produced by Media One Ventures of Chandigarh, India. The movie is scripted by UK based writer Farrukh Dhondy. There are articles in the Indian Express and Pune Newsline. There is a blog entry with further information at My Osho blog.
